Project overview
As part of a rooftop hospitality concept, eight 20ft high cube containers were transformed into fully functional bar and meeting units. The modified containers were then lifted and installed 45 metres high on the roof of an IKEA building.

Key construction highlights

  • Bar conversions with oversized flaps
    Four containers were redesigned as bar modules, each featuring 4m wide serving flaps cut from original container steel. These provide generous access for service while maintaining security when closed.
  • Winter operation enabled
    Three-panel sliding windows were installed to allow for continued operation in colder months, ensuring year-round usability.
  • Insulated for performance
    The containers were fully insulated, including underside floor insulation, and finished with a clean white interior coating for brightness and comfort.
  • Slip-resistant flooring
    Durable non-slip industrial floors were fitted throughout to meet hospitality safety standards.
  • Full electrical & plumbing integration
    All units were equipped with electrical wiring and sanitary connections, ready for beer tap and sink installation.
  • Challenging rooftop installation
    The containers were delivered, craned, and mounted on the rooftop, 45 m above ground level – a precise logistical operation requiring detailed pre-planning.
