As the name suggests, high cube shipping containers are defined by their height: at 2,896mm, they are 305mm taller than standard containers. They are the same width as a standard container (2,440mm), and come in the standard 20ft (6,058mm) and 40ft (12,192mm) lengths.

Generally speaking, the price of an as-new 20ft HC container is in the mid-thousands, while used 20-footers typically sit in the mid-to-low thousand range. 40-footers and specialised units – high cube, side opener – require a higher investment. Pricing naturally varies based on condition, modifications and availability. These shipping containers are ideal for oversized items that may not comfortably fit in a standard shipping container. At nearly three metres tall – 305mm taller than standard – HC containers are the ideal storage space for double-stacked pallets, machinery, equipment, vehicles, art, large parts and other bulky items. The increased internal volume also makes them a great option for when bulk goods won’t quite fit in a standard container.

A 20ft HC shipping container can typically hold 10 Australian standard pallets (1165mm x 1165mm) or 11 euro pallets (1000mm x 1200mm) when loaded in a single layer, but depending on the height of those pallets and the goods or materials they hold, you may be able to double stack. 40ft containers can hold up to 20 Australian standard pallets or 22 euro pallets. We also offer specialised 48ft pallet-wide containers that are designed to hold 24 Australian pallets.
