Vertical securing systems are essential for maintaining the stability of stacked shipping containers. Proper vertical restraint prevents the container from moving during transport or in high winds. One of the most widely used solutions for this purpose is the twistlock.

A twistlock is inserted into the corresponding fitting of the lower container before the upper container is lowered into place. Once the container is positioned, the locking mechanism is engaged by simply twisting the handle: hence the name “twistlock”. This creates a high-strength vertical connection capable of withstanding extreme loads and external forces.

Twistlocks not only provide vertical alignment but also enhance overall container safety by preventing vertical shifting and minimizing the risk of cargo damage. They are widely used in intermodal shipping, stacking operations, and static storage scenarios.

Locks are essential for protecting the contents of your shipping container. Standard padlocks often fall short, so specialised container locks are highly recommended. These locks are specifically designed to fit the heavy-duty doors and locking bars of shipping containers, offering maximum security with easy installation.

One proven solution is the monoblock lock, which secures the container by locking directly onto the door rods. For even greater protection against break-ins, you can install a lockbox: a steel housing that covers the lock itself and makes it significantly harder to tamper with using bolt cutters or crowbars.

Horizontal securing systems are used to stabilise containers and container stacks in a lateral direction. Bridge fittings are heavy-duty steel connectors that are used to bolt adjacent containers together after unloading. They are installed between neighbouring containers to prevent horizontal movement caused by wind, shifting loads, or vibrations during storage or transport.

Proper installation requires the use of a compatible torque wrench or spanner to ensure a secure and reliable connection. Bridge fittings are essential for safe container stacking on construction sites, storage yards, or during modular container builds.
